My new kittens have diarrhea and blood. Is it diet or stress related?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Male | unneutered | 2 months old

I bought two kittens on Friday 22nd September 2017 and since Iv noticed they have diahrea, one more than the other. One looks a little uncomfortable when pushing it out and I saw a little blood yesterday but not since or before. Is this normal due to change of diet and maybe stress from the move? They are a healthy weight and have settled in perfectly already. Just worried about his stool. Also I'm feeding them both one and a half wet chicken n jelly kitten pouches a day mixed with dry food?

You are feeding them fine. Cats can have a small amount of blood on the stool if the intestinal tract is irritated from the diarrhea or worms. Since they both have diarrhea and you saw some blood in the stool I recommend having a fecal checked for intestinal parasites. Cats get several different types of parasites. Having them identified in the stool will enable your veterinarian to prescribe the correct dewormer. Diarrhea can also be a result of changes in the food, environment or due to stress.
