Why is my cat pooping on the bed? Is she sick, stressed, or mad?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 24 days old

She is kept in cage when we r not home, n out when we r. There's a small litter box in cage n she knows to use it. But 3 days ago she was runnin around the place n went to our bed n start doing business there. My bf caught her in the act she ran away after she finished. This morning, same thing happened, I was in bed this time, and I caught her in the act, I pick her up (while the poop is coming out) and caught the poop with tissue. Is it normal? Is she mad? Stressed? Sick? How can I stop it?

If the litter box is in the cage then she might not want to go in the cage to use it so you could add another litter box outside the cage that is easy to access. You could also try a Feliway diffuser and/or Solliquin chews and see if that helps relieve and stress/anxiety that might be causing the problem. Also, take a fecal sample to a vet for parasite testing to make sure she doesn't have parasites.
