Most likely Cosmic has an upper respiratory infection that has led to the eye issue. These infections are common in shelter cats. A scratch on the cornea can also lead to signs of infection in the eye. It is best to have Cosmic examined by a veterinarian to determine what is the cause of the eye issue. Left untreated an eye problem can rapidly progress so it's important to have Cosmic checked out soon. There are no safe eye ointments you can get over the counter for cats and he may actually need an oral antibiotic to resolve the issue. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Cosmic is feeling better soon!
