Why am I itching around my 11-month-old puppy, but he has no fleas?

Alfie could have mange which is contagious to humans and would cause your itching. Ringworm is also contagious to humans, and that could be something he passed along to you. It could also be that you have developed an allergy to your dog. I would have him seen by a vet to check if he does have manage so he can treated, and I'd recommended seeing your doctor as well to see if they can diagnose a cause of your itching so you can be treated and get some relief from the itching. There are itchy skin conditions which can be transferred from pets to people - scabies, ringworm and occasionally flea bites can all cause itching in people. I recommend you get Goldie fully checked by your vet and skin scrapings/hair tests performed to rule these out - depending on the findings you may also need to see your own doctor or pharmacist for treatment also. Generally speaking however, recurrent seasonal itching is much more likely to be related to allergies and requires symptomatic treatment for Goldie - these are not contagious to people

Hello! How do I get my dog to stop scratching and itching. My vet gave him a chew to help get rid of fleas and prescribed an allergy med for 20 day’s but he’s still very itchy. And I am now getting itchy but don’t find any fleas on him. Please help :
Fleas live in the environment, not on the dog. They just on the dog to feed, and jump off when done. If you haven't disinfected your home, that may be why Sunnie is still itching and you are starting to itch. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. If this doesn't help, then I'd be concerned it could be something else contagious going on like mange or ringworm. Then I would take him back into the vet, and have you see your doctor. Best of luck.

Oh no, poor Jax! It looks like he might have ringworm, which is a highly contagious fungal infection. Unfortunately it's contagious to humans, and if you are itching too, he may have passed it onto you. I would have him seen by a vet tomorrow. If he does have ringworm, the vet can prescribe medication to treat it. You should also go see your doctor if he has it so you can get treatment for it as well. Should he have ringworm, you will need to disinfect the environment because the spores can live in the home for up to 18 months. My puppy itches a lot. She also used her teeth to itch/bite I can’t see any fleas on her and she was delfead 2 weeks ago. She cries when she does this. The vet said she hasn’t got fleas and I can’t see any
Itchy skin can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. As you mentioned Thea is biting at her skin and crying, it sounds like she is uncomfortable, and she needs to be seen by a veterinarian. I recommend making an appointment to have Thea seen by your veterinarian to help determine the cause of the itching and to make sure it is treated appropriately. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment. In the meantime, you can use a hypoallergenic, unscented shampoo for dogs to bathe her, and put an e-collar (cone) on her to help prevent her from biting/licking at her skin, as this may help reduce the risk of infection, although it is unlikely to resolve the current problem.

I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. This could be a skin parasite known as Sarcoptic mange this is transmissible between animals and humans. The vet can prescribe the most appropriate treatment once confirmed. This could also be a severe allergy and you may have a reaction to the shorter hairs poking your skin. The sooner this is diagnosed and treated the better. This is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). Hi, It may be that Lilly just has allergies and that's why she itching. I would start with giving her a bath with oatmeal/aloe shampoo and seeing if this helps. There are not many things we can get from dogs. Dogs can have parasitic skin infections but again, these aren't typically contagious. I would start with the bath and if that doesn't help it would be best to have a vet check Lilly for allergies, fleas and other causes of itchiness in dogs. Best wishes to you and Lilly.

The best advice we can give you is to have him checked y the vet, to determine exactly what is going on with his skin. It may be a contact allergy, but it could also be an environmental allergy, fleas, mange, etc. The vet will take skin scrapings if necessary, to come up with a specific diagnosis and treatment plan.

Is this from my dog which has a skin infection that itching and spreading just like on my arm
Hello, and thanks for your question on Boop by Petco. Ginger needs to be seen by a veterinarian for a diagnosis on what's going on with her skin, but if she is very itchy and if you have a rash that's similar to hers, I'd definitely recommend you both get that checked right away (you by your doctor, of course :-) ). There is a skin mite called sarcoptes that can infect a dog's skin and cause intense itching, and this mite can also be spread to people. Thankfully, if that's the case, it's easy to treat - but does require a prescription medication from the veterinarian. So, definitely have her checked as soon as possible. Hope this helps!

My puppy is just 2 month old, he has dandruff all over his body, he smells very bad, he's losing most of his fur, his skin feels greasy and he is always scratching. Moreover, I started scratching too and there are seemingly bite marks on my skin.
I would be very suspicious that your puppy has a parsitic infection. It could be a bad reaction to fleas or lice but unfortunately I think it is more likely something like mange or ringworm with bacterial infection also. I would be suspicious of juvenile demodecosis. You need to take the pup to the vet for tests to determine the type of parasite, then they will be able to prescribe the correct treatment. In the mean time wash your hands well and try and keep the dog away from soft furnishings.
