This can be the result of the rawhide either irritating the stomach or due to bacteria in the rawhide. As long as Chiquita is acting normal other than the vomiting you can wait twelve to twenty four hours to see if she will improve. If she is starting with pancreatitis or something serious like that she will be very sick, continue to vomit and be painful and lethargic. If you see those symptoms then I would take her in right away. With a small dog I'm very concerned when they vomit a lot as they can quickly become dehydrated. Your veterinarian will do an exam, probably run blood work and do an X-ray to see if the rawhide is stuck in the stomach, then they can give fluids and medication for the vomiting. Hopefully she will stop vomiting soon but if she needs to go in with prompt treatment she should be fine. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Chiquita.

Unfortunately we can see either GI obstructions (blockages) or GI upset from rawhides. Anytime we have a case of vomiting that continues to the point of foam, we know that the stomach is empty. If Chiquita is not able to keep food down, I would recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian. They may need to take x-rays to make sure there isn't any evidence of a blockage. At the very least, Chiquita will benefit from some anti-nausea medication to stop the vomiting. I hope that was helpful! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
