My dog won't eat his food, drinks more water, but has energy. Why?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 6 years and 2 months old | 18 lbs

My dog has been extremely picky for about 3 Days now, won’t eat his dog food but will eat people food somewhat. Will eat his treats and drinking more water than usual. I’ve tried changing dog food too. He’s a small dog about 18 pounds. He still has plenty of energy and goes on his walks.

It's likely that something has him feeling nauseous or he has abdominal pain. The drinking more does indicate that he may have a condition causing him to be nauseous rather than something directly upsetting him stomach. First check if he is getting any medication, because this could be a side-effect. If he's not taking any medication, then it would be best for a vet to examine him and possibly run some blood tests. It's possible that this is an early sign of an infection and/or kidney/liver disease, so it would be better to have this diagnosed sooner rather than later. It's not an emergency, but best to take him to a vet in the next day or two depending on his condition. For now, you can feed him the food he will eat and make sure there is plenty of water. I would avoid any home-remedies until the problem is discovered and treatment is advised by a veterinarian. I hope that helps and Ramsey gets better soon.
