Pet's info: Dog | Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 41 lbs
My dog ate her own poop about two weeks ago now she is pooping blood. Eating and drinking water normally and no change in mood or energy. What should I do?

Hi and thanks for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Blood in the stool can be caused by a hookworm infected, bacterial, or viral infection. I suggest taking Liyah to her veterinarian for a fecal test. Boiled chicken, rice, and canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) for a day may help but if no better, I would take her into her veterinarian. Thanks again for your post!

Anytime there is blood in the stool, it is recommended you see a vet. This can be from a bacterial infection, parasites or a virus picked up. In severe cases, not eating and vomiting, hospitalization with IV fluids is needed. You can try boiled chicken and rice to see if that helps until you can get her seen
