Why is my cat's fur missing in a patch and not growing back?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Wirehair | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 1.65 lbs

I recently notice a patch of hair missing on my cat's fur coat. She hasn't been near anything hot or burning. It seems like the hair was removed from her coat just on that specific spot and its not growing back. Its been 3 weeks now. She hasn't been in any fight at all.

Hi there. It is hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the skin looks pretty normal. Has she recently had any injections in that are? Vaccines, or pain medication really any injection in a cat can cause inflammation and hair loss. If the area is red, has a scab, or continues to spread then she should probably have an examination by a veterinarian. Hopefully the hair grows back soon!
