Why is my cat peeing on the dog's towel? He still uses the litter box.

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

My cat has just recently started peeing on a towel we have on the floor fir our older dog who has trouble holding her bladder. He still uses the litter box for pooping and just saturday i freshly changed litter and he used it to pee. How can I make him use it always and should I be concerned? Or is it because he sees the dog peeing there and thinks its ok?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry to hear Newton is having urination issues. You could try adding cat attract to his litter box to encourage him to use it, or add a Feliway diffuser (a calming pheromone) to the area. I would scoop the box daily and completely clean the litter every 1-2 weeks. If it is persistent or worsens I would reach out to your regular veterinarian for further advice. Good luck!
