Why is my cat peeing on the dog's towel? He still uses the litter box.

Question

My cat has just recently started peeing on a towel we have on the floor fir our older dog who has trouble holding her bladder. He still uses the litter box for pooping and just saturday i freshly changed litter and he used it to pee. How can I make him use it always and should I be concerned? Or is it because he sees the dog peeing there and thinks its ok? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

You could try adding cat attract to his litter box to encourage him to use it, or add a Feliway diffuser (a calming pheromone) to the area. I would scoop the box daily and completely clean the litter every 1-2 weeks. If it is persistent or worsens I would reach out to your regular veterinarian for further advice. Good luck!
