My kittens are vomiting all night. Is this an urgent health concern?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 17 days old | 2 lbs

It started out with an approximately 6 month old kitten that I found under my steps barely moving and breathing very slowly and deeply within 2 hours that kitten died. The next afternoon I found another one from the same litter in the same condition. Now(later the same day)I have 2 kittens (approximate age 6 wks)That are completely separate from the others(inside/outside) who have vomited all night.Any ideas if it's the same or maybe different ailments?HELP!

Hi and thanks for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is hard to say exactly without seeing the kittens first for an exam, but I can certainly offer some insights. If they have not been vaccinated, it may be something infectious such as pankleukopenia which is viral infection. Ingesting a toxin or a parasitic infection could also be possibilities. Vomiting all night for 6 week old kittens is a very serious concern as kittens that young are very susceptible to dehydration from the vomiting and that can sometimes be fatal if not treated. My best advice is to take the kittens into your veterinarian as soon as possible for treatment and so a diagnosis can be made. Best of luck to you and I hope for a swift recovery!
