My cat is sad, lethargic, and has diarrhea. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 45 lbs

So my cat looks sad, it doesn't want to play and I don't know what is wrong with him. It's eating and everything but it's not as energetic anymore. I think she has diarrhea because her stool was watery and it's usually not like that. So I would like to know your opinion about this

It sounds like Coco isn't feeling well and this is causing him to act depressed and less energetic. If he has diarrhea he may have a gastrointestinal illness like GI parasites, gastroenteritis, or a food sensitivity causing this change. You can try offering Coco a bland meal of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice to see if that settles the diarrhea. However, if it does not resolve quickly or any other signs of illness develop like vomiting, inappetance or lethargy it would be a good idea to have him check out by a veterinarian. Please remember to bring a stool sample with you on the visit so your veterinarian can check for parasites. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Coco is feeling better soon!
