My cat isn't eating, drinking, and has unusual litter box habits. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 7.8 lbs

Over the past 48 hours my 15 month old cat has shown a loss in appetite, hasn't been drinking a lot of water, and has used the bathroom a few times. This has never happened before, she has always shown interest in her food and water. Should I take her into my local vet?

Hi there, and thanks for using Pet coach! It sounds like Chanel isn't feeling quite normal. I think if it has gone on 48 hours then I am in agreement that you should take her to your veterinarian. Those are real vague signs, but hopefully the physical exam might yield some clues as to what may be wrong and what to do next either diagnostically or therapeutically. I hope she's on the road to recovery soon.
