Hi and thanks for your post. Common side effects of vaccines are vomiting, diarrhea, swelling of the face and paws, hives, and extreme lethargy. Most vaccines reactions happen within the first 2 hours after administration, but can be up to 24-48 hours after the vaccine. You should be concerned if you notice any of the above 24-48 hours after the vaccine is given and please visit your nearest veterinary emergency clinic for any of these symptoms. I hope this helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

You may see lethargy, loss of appetite or fever after vaccination. There may also be some pain or swelling at the site of injection. All these symptoms are relatively minor and usually resolve on their own in 24-48 hours. If symptoms are more severe or if you see swelling of the face and difficulty breathing, seek veterinary attention immediately.

Common signs associated with vaccine reaction include lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, swollen muzzle, hives, or redness of the skin. If you see any of these symptoms, I recommend that you take Dazzy back to the vet ASAP for evaluation and possible steroids or epinephrine injection.
