I have a huge concern. I have a puppy who is 4 months old. I got him from a shelter and since has had worms. We did all things possible to get rid of the worms such as, feed him pumpkin, cottage cheese, and pedialyte. After 2 days he started feeling much better! But then he became very lethargic and I wondered if it was possible that he could have Parvo. I took him to the vet and the test came out negative. He has had mucus come out of his anus while he lays down. What could this mean? Help!

Hi there. Puppies can have diarrhea and or mucus in their stool for several reasons. You Mention he had worms? Did a veterinarian give him a deworming medication? I would recommend a fecal exam looking for parasites and parasite eggs if that hasn't been done yet. Occasionally parvovirus test will have a false negative so if diarrhea or lethargy continues or if he begins to vomit please have him evaluated again. Otherwise feeding small amounts of a bland diet such as chicken and rice can help mild disease.
