My dog's ear was nipped at the kennel. Should I get this wound checked?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 5 months old | 63 lbs

My dog got into an incident at the kennel today. And the other dog nipped his ear. I wasn't there when it happened but the owner told me he cleaned the ear up and put liquid bandage on to stop the bleeding. Should I be taking my dog to the vet to get this wound checked out??

Oh no. Poor Fisher. The ear has a laceration that should definitely be checked by your vet. This area looks like it may need some sutures and for sure antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication to allow it to heal properly. Until you can get him seen, I would suggest flushing it with just sterile saline from your local pharmacy to keep debris and bacteria out of the wound. I hope that Fisher gets this resolved soon. Best wishes at the vet.
