How long can KMR milk replacer stay good at room temperature?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

We have some 6 week old kittens who were born premature the mom has ran out of milk. The can lap milk replacer from a bowl but haven't started eating wet food yet. I am wondering how long kmr stays good for at room temperature?

They should be able to start eating wet food. You can mix some wet food with the milk replacer or some water to make a gruel and see if they can eat that. I probably wouldn't leave the kmr out for more than a few hours.

6 week old kittens can start transitioning to more solids. There is a KMR transition formula that you can begin this week. KMR should be refrigerated once opened and discarded after 72 hours. I would pick up and discard any uneaten product from the bowl within an hour or so. I hope this is helpful!
