Why is my 4-month-old kitten peeing on blankets and soft items?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 4 months and 13 days old

My 4 month old kitten has been very good by going to the bathroom in his litter box. Well i used my blanket and then put it back on my bed. I left and then came back like 3 mins later to find him peeing on the blanket i just used. How come he peed on my blanket? Thank you.

I am sorry to hear about your kitten! Unfortunately blankets and towels left on the floor are often a favorite place for cats to pee! Since your kitten is young he may be more prone to this as he may not have completely established litter box habits. I would try to be sure no cloth items like this are left on the floor, and if your kitten continues to have accidents then a visit to the vet is needed to ensure he doesn't have a bladder infection or other cause for urinary accidents.
