I have been examined by a doctor and was told I had pasteurella which I probably contacted from a pet. I do have a cat who sleeps with me and licks milk out of my cereal bowl while I'm eating. She's the only pet I have. Should I be worried about my cat having it and should I take her to be treated? Also, she recently had a ruptured eardrum which the vet said was probably the cause of an infection, could this be a cause of it?

I would say that pasturella is not a common bacteria we find in cats. However it is always possible that dogs and cats carry pasturella in there normal mouth and saliva. If you have an open wound and are exposed to pasturella it maybe possible you can get the infection. I do not think the cats previous ear infection is a cause of the infection. Hope that helps
