Why is my 4-month-old puppy vomiting, lethargic, and not eating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 29 days old | 6.61387 lbs

My 4 month old dog is currently suffering from an unknown disease, I think. She stopped eating, lack of energy, vomiting green slimy substance. What is the disease? . She's half shih tzu and half labrador, if you must know. Thank you

I am sorry to hear about Sushi. In a dog this young, with decreased appetite and energy along with vomiting we would be very concerned about the possibility of parvo virus, especially if she hasn't had a full course of vaccinations. Other possible causes could include parasitic infection (with worms or protozoal organisms), a foreign body ingestion causing a blockage in the GI tract, ingestion of toxin, and gastroenteritis or pancreatitis. I would highly recommend getting her in to see a vet today, as these guys when they are so young can get ill very quickly, particularly with parvo virus. The vet will examine her and may recommend testing for parvo and parasites, and possibly an x-ray or bloodwork depending on their examination findings.
