Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 5 months and 15 days old
My kitten just threw up undigested food and I found a small amount of yellow diarrhea in his litter box (~3 minutes of each other). He hasn't been eating much for the past day and he's finding it difficult to drink (shakes his head and tries to put his paw in the bowl). I tried to carry him and felt two large and soft lumps near his back legs. We are taking him to the vet as I type but I am wanting to know roughly what could be wrong and what tests we should expect the vet to do? TIA.

I'm sorry your baby isn't feeling well. Intially the vet will likely recommend feline leukemia and FIV testing if the kitten hasn't yet been tested. Also they may get a stool sample to assess for parasites. Depending on exam findings and getting a more thorough history they may discuss running more complete bloodwork or imaging (X-rays or ultrasound). Common causes of vomitting/diarrhea in kittens can we do to parasites, viral disease, or foreign body. I hope Mitzi is feeling better very soon. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
