Why does my cat have bald patches above whiskers? Do whiskers regrow?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 14 lbs

I noticed today two small dots above my cat's whiskers. I know they are not whisker follicles because the photo taken with the trees in the background was from Aug 24th and the other two are from today. When I pull back the fur it seems to be bald patches. Can cats grow new whisker follicles or is there something wrong with him

Hi and thank you for your post. Sometimes small bumps around the face of cats may be feline acne, which is not a cause for alarm. Feline acne will subside on it's own most times or can be treated with a mild cleansing cloth or mild benzoyl peroxide cleanser. Cats can grow new whiskers, yes. I hope this has helped and best wishes to you and Bartholomew!
