Cat has diarrhea and vomiting after eating wet food. Is it serious?

Our 9 month old male cat had canned cat food for the first time yesterday and today, now he is having diarrhea and vomiting. Should we be concerned?? Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 8 lbs

Hi and thank you for your question on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I wouldn't be too concerned if this is the first time this has happened. It is more than likely due to the food change. It is possible he may have a sensitivity to the food. If he continues to vomit and have diarrhea tomorrow, there may be something more concerning at play and I would take him into your veterinarian, but for now, give him a break from the wet food and see if he improves.
