My young kitten has a firm, painless growth on her paw. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Female | unspayed | 2 lbs

My 4-6 month old kitten has a growth on her back white foot on the top (Apx. 10 by 15 mm). It is firm. It kind of looks like a top toe. There is white hair growing on top of the growth, but around the perimeter there is a line (skin). Toward's the top of the foot it is a little bumpy near the growth. What could this be at such a young age? It doesn't hurt her. Eats normal.

I'd agree that it's unusual to see kittens having growths - it's rare in general in cats, but they can certainly get tumors and the like as they age. If she hasn't been checked by a vet, it's time to do so, because this area needs to be closely examined. It could just be a variation of normal anatomy, and something that's "normal" for her. However, I'd also want to be sure that there's not something stuck in her foot, like a thorn or grass seed, as this can happen as well.
