Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed
I have 2 cats. One has just been diagnosed with renal failure and given a special diet. My other cat is his sister and has not shown any signs of being unwell but is 13 and I understand by this age cats do often have kidney problems. My question is, would feeding both my cats the special diet be detrimental to the cat who has not yet been diagnosed? She is extremely anxious so I am reluctant to take her to the vet to be tested.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! To be safe, I would recommend blood testing the second cat. If she's not in failure, it would give a good baseline for future blood testing. It will not hurt both cats to be on the special diet. They are safe for all pets and could help stave off renal changes. Good luck and kisses to both kitties!
