My cat's breasts are lumpy 4 weeks after spay. Is it a concern?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 8 months old | 2.5 lbs

Hi. My cat recently got spayed. Went to vet after 3 days n all ok... again visited vet 10 days after surgery vet said all ok.. now it's been 4 weeks since surgery. She used to always want to lie down on my chest when I'm sleeping and sleep under my cover spooning with me. So affectionate. Now she doesnt like getting near me. I was doing usual inspection and i noticed her lower 2 breasts are more lumpy than before surgery. Should I be concerned?

I am not able to appreciate any lumpiness in the mammary glands, but since it is a new development, you may want to have it checked out by a vet. Sometimes increased size in mammary glands can be seen in the first few days after a cat is spayed, which does not seem like the case in this situation. Try to avoid massaging or touching this area to reduce stimulation until you are able to get Lulu seen by a vet.
