My foster kittens have diarrhea. Is pumpkin a safe home remedy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have foster kittens who have diahrrea. They don't vomit and are otherwise 100 percent healthy. Already been dewormed and tested neg for distemper and parasites. Nothing medically wrong with them. Is there a home remedy I can give them? It's just that the diahrrea is really hard to clean off the carpet and they won't always use the box. I've heardd pumpkin may help?

Hello and thank you for your question! Yes plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) can help to firm up the stool. A teaspoon or so in the food will help. If the diarrhea persists however, you may want to take them into see their veterinarian for recheck fecal test. Hope this has helped and best of luck!
