My cat was poisoned, ran away, now lethargic. Could he be sick again?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 7 months old

Hello! My tomcat was poisoned and he got jaundice. He was all yellow and skinny and didn't eat so we went to the vet. They made him injections and he recovered and we gave him 2 weeks of liver pills. The problem is he ran from home for 5 days and when he came back he was all changed. A bit anemic but he eats a lot now and he sleeps with us (he was a wild cat most of the time) He seems lethargic and depressed because he doesn't move or runs from home anymore. Could he be sick again?

Poor Pisu! It's possible that his liver is still affected, or he has become injured/ill especially if he was extremely ill for a period of time and he ran away again. It is a good idea to recheck bloodwork values and an exam with your vet to see if there have been any changes in his health profile, especially if he still isn't his normal self. Your vet may also recommend a long-term liver supplement or diet change to help him recover as well.
