Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 years and 5 months old
My cat's nose looks weird. It looks almost like dried snot, but it never seems to go away. His eyes also leak and i have to wipe boogers out of them every day. Yesterday, his nose was bleeding a tiny bit (like a bloody booger) and it concerns me. He came from a dirty rescue environment, and I'm worried that there might be some permanent damage from that. Is this worrisome enough to take him to a vet? Money is EXTREMELY tight but i want him to be taken care of if you think it's something serious

If he is all else is normal, you can try over the counter lysine- often sold at pharmacies and pet stores. It is an antiviral and can help for upper respiratory viruses. If this is a new finding and he seems not to feel well, it would be safer to take him in.... I would also take a warm washcloth and gently exfoliate his nose and continue to keep his eyes clean as you have. I hope this helps!

Thanks for hwlping this guy. He likely has an upper respiratory infection which can be a combination of viral and bacterial disease. Getting good nutrition into him is a start but many time these cats need antiviral or antibiotic medications. You can warm compress or wipe his eyes clean with a warm damp cloth. If a vet visit is possible I strongly recommend it to get the correct medications for him. In the meantime nursing and supportive care may help a lot. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/feline-upper-respiratory-infection Thank you for using PetCoach.
