My cat isn't drinking after liver hospitalization. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 11 months and 25 days old

My cat was hospitalized with biliary he has been home for a few days but not drinking finished his antibiotics and he still has the primaquin to take is it normal

Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I assume that you mean something affecting Taxi's hepatobiliary system. It is not unusual for these type of conditions to cause inappetence and decreased water intake usually accompanied by other signs such as nausea and/or vomiting. While possible, this is not normal. I would advice that you have Taxi evaluated by your veterinarian to see if his values (bilirubin) have increased further or if there is any other reason for him to not be eating. It is possible that decreased appetite has occurred secondary to the antibiotics as they can cause decreased appetite as a side effect. If this is the case, he may improve as he has finished the course of antibiotics. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!
