What treats are best for a puppy who won't eat dry training treats?

Hi, I am sending this question because my Yorkie puppy doesn't eat any treats besides his ProPlan Purina food. He has came to my house a week ago and I'd like to start teaching him commands like "sit" and "stay" by rewarding him with other treats. I have tried to give him a variety of different dry snacks but he doesn't eat them. Some help is appreciated. Thanks.

How about some boiled white meat chicken (no bones)? Puppies tend to love chicken, and that would be a good healthy treat for him to help him learn commands. You can also try some boiled low fat ground beef in small amounts. I hope this helps, good on you for working on training Scott!

A few general recommendations: stick with well known brands with a good reputation. Look for products made in the USA. Kibble works great for treats and I use Purina Pro Plan chicken or lamb and rice. Dry biscuit type treats usually have less calories and salt. The jerky or moist type treats are fine in moderation (they have more calories and salt usually). Lastly, many dogs really like dehydrated chicken livers and chicken jerky. Hello.. My guy is 10 weeks old. What should I award him as treats during training sessions? I have tried his regular dog food (royal canin), but it's not effective. Anything alternative product or any home made recepies ?
Your puppy is still a bit young for lots of training, he is still a baby. I suggest you book in to a puppy training class once his vaccinations are done. As for treats, it is not always necessary to give food treats. Praising is a great treat and works just as well, if not better. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Any treat that excited your particular dog is the one you want to use. Just use SMALL pieces of treats, so break up the milk bones to even smaller chunks. You can use cooked chicken or low sodium turkey hot dogs as well. Everything should be in moderation as to not cause your puppy to gain too much weight during training. Good luck!

A lot of prepared meats contain large amounts of salt or seasonings that may upset Jasper’s stomach, and some types of seasonings can be harmful to dogs. Try boiling boneless skinless chicken in water, shredding the chicken, and feeding him small amounts as treats. Treats should not make up more than 10 % of his daily caloric intake, and he should be fed a diet appropriate for puppies.

Are there any healthy training treats that I can give to my puppy through out the day?
You can use baby carrots or green beans as healthy training treats, if she likes them. Small bites of chicken or roast beef can also work well. If you prefer store bought treats, I like Zukes brand quite a bit for my own dogs - they use very healthy, high-quality ingredients, and their training treats are nice and small.

My Husky is not interested in commercial dog treats or peanut butter and is only VERY slightly interested in kibble (not enough for me to use it to lure her). How do I go about luring her into a sit or a down?
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco! It sounds like you've got yourself a pretty picky Husky! As long as she does not have any food sensitivities or allergies, I would recommend boiling some chicken or ground turkey to use as a tasty treat that is low in fat. This is what I have to do for my own dog. She will likely consider this a much more rewarding treat than plain kibble, and hopefully motivate her to be trained into a sitting or laying down position. No, this shouldn't cause any problems at all. Boiled chicken is a great choice for training treats, and you can definitely go ahead and start working with Dexter as long as you keep your training sessions short and fun :)

Hello and thank you for your post on Boop by Petco! I like to use Tricky Trainers because they are grain free and are only 4kcal/treat. They also smell amazing to dogs and seem to be quite tasty to them. You can purchase these at any major pet supplies store. I hope this helps!
