Unspayed dog has vaginal discharge & urine drips. Is it pyometra?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Catahoula Leopard Dog | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 11 months old | 60 lbs

"Skylar" Female (not spayed) 3 years 60 lbs I have noticed minor mucoid vaginal discharge over the last few days. This morning, after urinating outside, she dripped what seemed to be urine for about 20 minutes. It was only about 2-3TB of fluid, and has stopped since. She has been treated for vaginitis in the past, but with her not yet being spayed I worry about pyometra. I can provide more information / symptoms that Skylar has, as well as medical history.

Based on what you are describing I would be worried about a pyometra as well. The likelihood of this increases if Skylar has recently been in heat. I would recommend taking Skylar in to the vet to be examined. If she is diagnosed with a pyometra she will need emergency surgery. I hope this helps.
