My cat's eye is goopy and squinting. Should I wash it or see a vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

Lily has a little bit of goop coming out of her one eye and she has a hard time keeping it open is there some kind of wash or something I can do in case there's something in there what would you suggest

I'm sorry to hear that Lilly is having a problem with her eye. You can use any human irrigating saline solution safely for a cat's eye. However, if she has discharge and is squinting, you should have her evaluated by her veterinarian. Your veterinarian will examine her eye for any scratches, infection, or abnormal material. Anytime a cat is squinting, we worry that the eye is painful, so I would recommend having it evaluated as soon as possible before it gets any worse. I hope that helps.
