My German Shepherd puppy is weak, can't stand after parvo. What now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | 2 months and 30 days old | 7.71 lbs

My pet (German shepherd)was diagnosed with parvo 3 weeks earlier. Now she has recovered from the bloody stool and vomition but her weakness is increasing day by day. Now she is not able stand even. And her urine is still now yellow even after drinking adequate water(she is well hydrated). After having food her stomach is expanding too much . And it seems like she is in pain. She is trying to get up but her back legs are not having enough power to put her up in toes. What should I do?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about cute Bubu. Sounds like you need to have her rechecked by your veterinarian. They may need to re evaluate her and make sure nothing else is going on in addition to recovering from parvo. Puppies need to be dewormed also while undergoing parvo treatment once the vomiting is resolved. She may need fluid treatment and electrolytes, nutritional supplementation, etc to help her get back on track. Your vet can perform fecal tests, blood tests, and even some x-rays to try to determine if something else is going on or just treat her symptomatically, but again I would stress deworming if that wasn't done. Parvo and intestinal worms or protozoan parasites together can be extremely devastating on a puppy's system. Good luck with Bubu and I wish her a very speedy recovery.
