My dog is a golden/boarder collie. She is 13 yrs old. Only 25 percent of her kidneys are functioning. She has kidney disease. About how long does she have left?

This can be a very difficult question to answer. The timeline would just be a guess, but it is possible that she only has 3-6 months left. This varies widely, and can depend on her current blood and urine values, and what treatments or supplements she is on. I commonly recommend renal failure dogs to go on a prescription renal diet. There are a few medications that can be used based on changes in electrolytes or other bloodwork values. If you have bloodwork results, we would be happy to discuss them with you during a consultation.
