My 9-year-old dog's eyes are cloudy. Should I worry about blindness?

Hi there, so today I went to the annual checkup fir my dog ( she's 9 yo) and he told me that my her eyes got cloudy, and with age she will become blind. I was wondering if I shoud go back and get further examination? I am very worried. Thank You

Hi there! Thanks for letting us take care of you today! It really depends on what is causing her eyes to be cloudy. For example, if what is described as cloudy is cataracts, then these can potentially be surgically corrected dependent on its severity. You can always seek a consultation with a veterinary ophthalmologist for further assessment in case there is something that can be done to prevent further progression of Lony's condition or even treatment.     Cloudiness in the eyes of old dogs does not always mean they will go completely blind, in most dogs it is a natural degeneration process due to old age, your dog will indeed lose some of it's vision but will most likely never go completely blind. if it is a fast going process then it may be due to cataract or to a more severe eye disease, in tat case blindness is more common. If you are worried i would definitely recommend a second opinion with the ophthalmologist vet.
