My dog has a throat lump and is vomiting. Is it an emergency?

Pet's info: Dog | Bullmastiff | Male | neutered | 6 years and 7 months old

I have found a large swelling on the front of my 6 year old bullmastiffs throat. Still eating and drinking but has vomited twice in the last 2 days

Although a picture of it would help to determine more specifically the underlying cause of it, differential causes would include lymph nodes enlargement, abscesses, tumoral masses or accumulation of fluid due to venous return impairment. A check up is essential to confirm of these causes and give you appropriate treatment options.

    This sounds like it could be a medical emergency. I would take him to your vet as soon as you can to have that lump or swelling examined. This could be a mass or an allergic reaction to something like a bite. If needed, Your vet will be able do a cytology on the mass to help figure out what it is. Your vet will also be able to see if the vomiting is related. Your vet will be able to do blood work or X-rays if needed. I hope this helps and Marv feels better really soon !
