My dog ate chocolate and has diarrhea but seems fine. What now?

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 55 lbs

Hi. Our dog ate milk chocolate yesterday morning and have kept a close eye on her throughout the day, all night and today also. She is absolutely fine in herself! No heavy breathing, not restless, etc. Although she has had diarrhoea all day which we're assuming is her getting rid of the chocolate from her body. She hasn't been sick and has eaten as normal! Any further advice? Thanks, Aimee.

Poor Skye! You're correct that eating chocolate can often cause some diarrhea for the next day or so. As long as she isn't having any other symptoms and is acting fine otherwise, I would say she's "out of the woods" at this point for serious toxicity issues - you shouldn't need to worry :) If she's still having some diarrhea at this point, you can try witihholding food for the next 12 hours to give her stomach a chance to settle - then feed a bland diet of plain boiled chicken and rice for the next few days until her stools are back to normal.
