I think it is fine that your vet tried a conservative approach initially. However since that hasn't worked now I think he needs to go back in for a recheck. I would recommend at this point definitely doing the x-ray and a fecal examination to check for intestinal parasites. At the very least Archie will need some medication to help with the nausea and vomiting. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.

Based on your description of the situation, I would have expected the vet that Archie went to see to at least administer and/or prescribe some anti-nausea medication and subcutaneous fluids. Some of the anti nausea medications we use in veterinary medicine (Cerenia in particular) are extremely effective, and if a dog/cat vomits through this medication it is typically an indicator that something pretty serious is happening. Bloody stool is typically an indicator of parasitic infestation, generalized inflammation of the bowels/stomach, pancreatitis, certain infectious diseases, or some sort of foreign body in the GI tract. If Archie is continuing to vomit even through small meals, he needs to be returned to the vet (a different one if you think the first one isn't going to administer medication) for treatment and diagnostics. As you mentioned, x-rays would probably be a reasonable place to start given his persistent symptoms. Hope this helps.
