My dog had puppies early. What's normal gestation? Are they safe?

Hello my dog has just had 8 pups and they all look ok but I'm not sure how many days she was pregnant for I think there early will they be ok?

Bella's puppies are beautiful! A dog's pregnancy can be between 58-68 days, so even if they came around the 60 day mark, they will be fine. As long as they are nursing and gaining weight daily, everything should be ok :-)

Average gestation is 63 to 65 days, however puppies can be full term and born anywhere between 58 and 68 days. So she will give birth within the next 10 to 14 days or so. The squeaking may be normal, as now the puppies are growing rapidly and it just may be a bit uncomfortable for her. She will start building a nest when she is close to giving birth. If you are worried about her and think that the squeaking may be a sign of her giving birth before day 58, or that she may be ill, take her to your vet for an exam to make sure everything is ok. Premature puppies have a hard time surviving.

My female dog is 65 days into her pregnancy. I thought it was up to 62 days. She has some stuffed animals and is handling them as they were puppies is this normal?
The average gestation period for dogs is between and 62 and 65 days. That is average; there are going to be dogs that have them a bit sooner or a bit later. I would not be worried about this. It is normal for a pregnant dog (or even a dog with false pregnancy) to handle stuffed toys like they were puppies.

The gestation period is anywhere from 57-65 days and pets typically will drop their temperature below 100 degrees Fahrenheit 24 hrs before the labor process, so this is normal. You should expect puppies soon! Make sure that mom has a nice warm, cushioned, slightly isolated nest to have her puppies. The normal gestation length for dogs is between 58-68 days, so Abhi is still within the normal time period. I would continue to wait and monitor her. Take her temperature rectally twice daily. A dog's normal temperature is between 101-102.5F, and once it drops below 100F, she should give birth within 24 hours. Should 24 hours pass after this temperature drop with no sign of puppies, take her into the vet immediately. Should she reach 69 days gestation with no sign of puppies, take her into the vet immediately.

Hi Alan. A dog's pregnancy can last between 58-68 days. If Bella is more than 69 days pregnant, this is not ok and she has to see a vet immediately. I would take her into a vet now to get checked out.

Dogs will gestate anywhere between 58 and 68 days. Typically, the progesterone level will drop to around 2ng/ml about 48 hours prior to labor and then again to 1ng/ml about 24 hours before labor. You should also monitor her temperature. Labor typically follows within 24 hours of a drop below 100 F. If your vet is not concerned, be patient. Bella is almost there!

It isn't ideal to get pregnant so young; however, she can still do it and this will not affect her growth in any way. She is however higher risk for complications such as inadequate milk production, underweight pups, and miscarriages. That picture is adorable!! I love it :-) This is a great question! A dog's gestation can be between 58-68 days with an average of 63 days, so I would not start being concerned until Lizzie reaches 68 days pregnant with no signs of puppies. At this point, I would take her into the vet.
