My Rottweiler shows pregnancy signs but no belly. Is she pregnant?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 2 months old | 132 lbs

I have a 26 month old Rottweiler who possibly bred with my male Rottweiler on the 5th of july. her nipple are pink and plump and she is exhibiting signs of pregnancy but her stomach isn't much larger. Her ribs seem a lot rounder on the outside. I was just wondering if she could be pregnant and carrying up in her ribs. She would be approximately 40 days pregnant at the moment.

She can still be pregnant but it is too early to see abdominal distention in a large breed at only 40 days. If you vet has an ultrasound, she can be seen any time to see heartbeats or if you want until after 45 days, puppies will be visible on an xray.
