Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 11 months and 11 days old | 50 lbs

Just got my new dog (pointer\lab mix) 11 months old on Saturday. She was great that day, ate her food had multiple bowel movements, but then yesterday (Sunday) has not eaten at all and is throwing up and has diarrhea today. She is bit lethargic, but will go on walks and still play a bit but not as much as usual. She did have kennel cough and is on antibiotic, which is the only thing she had on Sunday.

Poor Lexi! Given that it started on Sunday when she had the antibiotic, it could be from that as some dogs do develop gastrointestinal side effects (decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, etc) to antibiotics. Check with your veterinarian how important is her antibiotic at this stage in the treatment protocol and if stopping it based on how severe her kennel cough was, is even an option. Otherwise, have her examine by your veterinarian to ensure nothing else more serious is going. Keeping my fingers crossed for your girl'
