My dog has an infected scratch under his eye. Call emergency vet?

My dog got a scratch under his eye a few days ago , it looked fine until today were its highly infected I've cleaned and trimmed around it washed with warm water and salt , our vet clinic in town isn't open until tomorrow am I doing the right thing until then or should I call the emergency number for him now as a scab just fell of and it looks bad but he seems to be feeling fine as he's sleeping and eating still. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 14 years and 6 months old

Aww poor guy! I think you have done a very good job so far to keep it clean. If he is otherwise doing fine, it would likely be just fine to wait until tomorrow. That area can be sampled to check for an underlying infection. Antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications will likely be prescribed and he will most likely be just fine! Good luck!
