Should I take my dog to the vet for flat, dark belly spots?

My dog has two spots on her belly that kind of look like freckles/small moles they are almost black should I take her to the vet? They don't seem to bother her and they are flat

Thank you for providing pictures of the black spots on Belle! You are correct they could be moles, but it's always good to have any concerning spots checked out by a vet. That's because there is always a chance in an older dog that they would be a sign of a malignant tumor. It's not emergency, especially if they aren't getting bigger, and I would have her seen by a vet in the next couple of days. I hope this helps :-)

Hello, that dark spot should not be something that you need to worry about. Monitor it intermittently and make sure it is not becoming raised, painful, red, or having any discharge. As long as not of these occur then you do not need to worry about it and have your veterinarian take a look at it when he goes in for his next wellness exam. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I found these black mole spots on my puppies belly. My brother said the one was there but has grown. But I hadn’t noticed before because she dosent like laying on her back. I wondered if it looked ok or if I should be conserned.
If the spots seem to be growing then you should have a vet examine her. Your vet can aspirate the lesions to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. They could be benign lesions but there is no way to know without doing an examination. She may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, or they may need to be removed.

My 10 week old puppy has brown spots with black spots on her lower belly, as well as black spots on her nipples. Is this a medical emergency or something that can be solved at home?
Hello, thank you for your question about Bella. Brown/black spots on a puppy's belly could be a sign of a few different conditions. It is possible that this is a bacterial skin infection called impetigo/puppy pyoderma that is relatively common in puppies. Another possible problem is that Bella may actually have some blackheads/irritated skin on her belly. With either of these conditions if the spots are mild and Bella is not bothered by them you could try gently cleaning them with a gentle cleanser decided for us in dogs. If Bella is scratching/rubbing at the spots or there is a colored/odorous discharge I would recommend having Bella seen by your veterinarian so that they can further examine the spots and determine the need for another treatments. My dog honey has suddenly gotten this on her belly! I have no idea what it is please help me figure it ou?

Based off the picture, these dark black spots on Honey's abdomen appear to be comedones, which are basically clogged pores that fill with oil and skin debris. There are clinically insignificant, and shouldn't cause her any issues. If she doesn't seem bothered by them, she should be just fine! If she seems to want to lick or cause irritation to the area, she may have another confounding skin issue such as a superficial infection. I hope this is helpful!

My 12 year old yorkie has this dark spot on her stomach. It feels bumpy but it feels like its in her stomach. It looks to be about the size of a gummy bear
I would be concerned in a senior dog like Jazzy, this bumpy dark spot could be a sign of a malignant tumor. I would have her seen by a vet in the morning to have this examined. If the vet is concerned it's a lump, they can do a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once a diagnosis is made, the vet can discuss treatment with you.

Without images or a physical exam, it can be difficult to determine definitively what is on your pup's skin. If these areas are flat, smooth to the touch and not bothering him, then it is probably just his skin coloration. Even though a picture of it would really help to determine the underlying cause more precisely, this could be due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). I was giving my dog a belly rub and noticed these tiny black freckles on her skin and I’m certain I’ve never seen them there before. If anyone knows what they are and thinks she needs to get a check up please tell me
Skin lesions can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. Some dogs can have pigmentation changes from chronic irritation to the area, while others can have normal pigmented areas similar to freckles. If the lesions are not resolving, are getting worse, or are spreading, I recommend making an appointment to have Molly seen by your veterinarian to help determine the cause of the lesion you’ve noticed and to make sure they are treated appropriately. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment.
