My parakeet is sick: plucking feathers, green poop, aggressive. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female

My parakeet shows signs of plucking her feathers behind her neck, resting her head there, greenish wet stool, and isolation to the bottom corner of her cage, aggressive behavior, her feathers flare out to the point where she looks fat or has frizzy feathers.. Any recommendations? And if it does require a vet visit would you think its expensive?

I am sorry Sarahfina is not feeling well. I would highly recommend taking her to a vet as soon as possible. The things you are mentioning above are all signs of illness. The feather picking is most likely due to stress from being ill. I would be concerned about parasites, infectious disease or even organ disease. Unfortunately the price will depend on where you live and what vet you take her to. Most likely the vet will wants to start out with some basic blood work to see how her organs are functioning. Hope that sarahfina feels better soon
