Why does my puppy have a red, swollen eye with green discharge?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 10 days old | 17 lbs

Hello ! Me and my husband got a puppy 3 weeks ago and we noticed his eyes were a tiny red . Well one eye has gotten worse and is swollen , he gets green boogies (some but not a lot) it doesn't seem to irritate him but I haven't seen it get any better . Thanks , Amanda

Congratulations on adopting Shadow - he's adorable! I can certainly see some conjunctivitis from the pictures that you've posted. His redness and discharge could be a sign of an eye infection, corneal ulcer, or pannus. Eyes are fairly delicate structures and can change rapidly, so I do recommend taking Shadow to a vet today for evaluation. Until you can get to the vet, be sure to keep an e-collar (cone; http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=20390 ) on him to prevent him from rubbing or scratching his eyes, as this could make matters worse. I hope that all goes well!
