Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | 1 month and 23 days old | 5.29 lbs
Hi, I recently started giving my 56 day pup Royal canin medium starter mother and baby dog. It asks to give 280 gm ( adult weight is 25kg ) in 2 meals but I am giving 20 gm in 4 meals with 1 scoop cerelac. Everytime he eats , his tummy gets full , not bloated but becomes big. What am I doing wrong? What do I do , it looks odd because when he walks , his tummy wobbles . Please suggest what to do , I am really going nuts as internet doesn't help much.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Ozzy is so cute! One thing that comes to mind right away is if any dewormings have been performed. Puppies get infected with intestinal parasites from their mother before birth and while nursing. Deworming of puppies should be done as early as 2 weeks of age and should be done every 3 weeks for at least 3-4 dewormings. This is usually why puppies have pot bellies. I hope this helps. Seems like everything else is looking good. Good luck with cute Ozzy.

You are not doing anything wrong at all. It is normal for their tummies to become a little distended after eating. As long as he seems comfortable and full he should be fine. I would also recommend making sure he is dewormed because intestinal parasites can cause abdominal distentionu as well.
