My puppy recovered from parvo, does he still need parvo shots?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 17 days old | 15 lbs

My 4 month old puppy just recovered from a mild strain of parvo. I found that the breeder only gave the puppies booster vaccines. Should I have my puppy vaccinated for parvo?

It is very important for puppies to be vaccinated against Parvo. Kaia should receive at least 4 vaccines for Distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and parvovirus from ages 6 to 20 weeks to be fully vaccinated. Your veterinarian will also likely want to vaccinate her against kennel cough and leptospirosis depending on your location, in addition to Rabies.
