My puppy has diarrhea after puppy shots. Should I be concerned?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 3 months and 13 days old | 54.3 lbs

Nova got diarrhea right after rabies/leptospirosis/DPP vaccines. Otherwise active and normal appetite, Nova had fourth loose sample. Vet that gave shots said I could watch for one more day What are your suggestions?

Diarrhea is a sign of a vaccine reaction. I agree with your vet. Watch Nova for 24 hours. If she is still having diarrhea, she may need to be treated for it. If she develops vomiting or lethargy, she should be seen sooner as puppies can get dehydrated quickly. Make sure she drinks plenty of water until the diarrhea resolves.

Poor Roxie! You are not overreacting, you have very good reason to be concerned. Sometimes signs of vaccine reactions can be vomiting and diarrhea, so I would definitely take her to be evaluated and treated. Just as you said, puppies are prone to dehydration, so it would be best if you took her in sooner rather than later. Even if its not the vaccine, she needs to be seen with these symptoms! Hope she feels better!
