New mom cat not eating, crying, and seems pregnant. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 8 months old | 8 lbs

My Bella Just gave birth to one kitten on July 28th, at 9:30 am. As of today, She's not eating or drinking. She's constantly crying and wants me to be there with her 24/7 and rub her belly. I think she still feels pregnant. I've taken her temperature, its right at 99.5 f. She stays with her kitten all the time. Should I be concerned about anything?

If you think there is a kitten left then she needs to been seen by a vet to check as this can be toxic to her if untreated. If thrrr are no kittens left it may be a sign of a uterine infection or she may have not passed all the after birth from the last kitten. This will take antibiotics and possibly an injection to help her expel the remaining placenta. Either way it is safest to have her checked by a veterinarian
