Did changing my 5-month puppy's feeding schedule cause diarrhea?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 7 days old

I read that puppies should be fed x3-4 times a day so I stopped feeding my 5 month old 2 times a day to 3 (measuring out the same amount) and he's been having a bit of diahorrea at the end of his normal poo I was wondering if this could have caused it?

Hi there! Any abrupt change in routine diet could potentially cause soft stool, so adding a third meal could potentially cause the bit of diarrhea you are seeing. If it doesn't clear up in a day or so, please bring Ziggy to the vet to have him checked for other conditions, such as parasites (worms). You could also add a little plain white rice to his food as this tends to bind things up a bit. Good luck, and I hope Ziggy's poo firms up soon! :)
